Try The Tri
Today was the antithesis of a lazy Sunday morning.  It was a work day with a 4am wake-up call and shock to the system for a non-coffee drinker.  And a soda alternative that early in the morning had the makings of a perfect storm and vengeful stomach rebellion.  So a bleary eyed worker bee made her way to support an outdoor sporting event with a weather...

The Good the Bad and the Ugly
No good deed goes unpunished.  It’s ironic when our good deeds end up biting us in the butt.  Case in point- one good run in turn results in one bad head cold.  I’ve hit ridiculous highs and lows with my running lately and it seems the further I run the more susceptible I am to getting sick.  And this time I can’t blame my Meniere’s disease or whatever it is that ails me.  No, this go round it’s...

Run Like A Mother
I’ve never been one to embrace the Hallmark contrived holidays, but the one caveat is Mother’s Day.  I’m not lobbying for spa treatments, brunch or jewelry either- although a girl can dream.  I’m referring to those snapshot moments that stay with you for a lifetime.  Baking cookies with your kids while they skate on the flour- laden floor to the annual family canoe trips…those moments which make...

Easter Holiday Crasher
Easter usually brings round family, friends and perhaps a visit by the Easter Bunny. To my chagrin, I had a surprise visitor who crashed our holiday and wouldn’t take the hint to leave. Yes folks, my dastardly little illness has uncanny timing, is a glutton for dramatics and makes one hell of an entrance.  I had just celebrated a new milestone of running for 5 consecutive miles when that little...

Goodbye Treadmill, Hello Spring Training
You can always spot spring in my ‘hood because there’s a complete resurgence- not just of bulbs and buds but of kids, dogs, bikes, trikes, strollers, walkers and of course runners.  I especially love to see the bike and running clubs out en masse conquering the unforgiving steep and windy country roads.  They look almost giddy- embracing the outdoors after enduring this year’s record breaking snow...
